Warwick Book Club ("we", "us", "our") runs this website at warwickbookclub.co.uk. This page explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it. We're a small, volunteer-run reading group, and we only collect what we need to run meetings and answer enquiries.

What we collect and why
Contact form. When you send us a message through the site, we collect your name, email address, and whatever you write in the message field. We use this only to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list from this form alone.
Event bookings. If we open bookings for a meeting or event through the site, we collect the name and email address you provide in order to manage attendance for that event.
We rely on legitimate interest as the lawful basis for both of these: responding to an enquiry or booking you've chosen to make. We don't use your data for any other purpose without asking you first.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing. A small number of service providers process data on our behalf so the site can function:
- Hostinger, who host the website and receive form submissions as part of that hosting.
- Any plugin used to run event bookings on the site, which stores attendee names and email addresses for that purpose.
We don't currently use website analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we'll update this policy and add a cookie notice before any such cookies are set.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages and event booking details only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry or run the event, and delete them periodically afterwards.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do so, email us at [insert contact email]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site changes. This version was last updated 3 August 2026.
